EMQ Partners with Ecosteer to Advance IoT Data Compliance Across Europe

MENLO PARK, CA, — May 15, 2025 — EMQ, a global leader in MQTT messaging and edge-to-cloud IoT connectivity, today announced a partnership with Ecosteer, an innovator in secure data-sharing and privacy technologies.

Together, EMQ and Ecosteer are launching a joint solution to help organizations comply with GDPR, the Data Governance Act, and the upcoming EU Data Act (effective September 2025).

The integrated offering combines EMQ’s high-performance MQTT messaging platform with Ecosteer’s decentralized consent and encryption technology—giving users secure, compliant, real-time access to their own data.

This partnership addresses growing demand in sectors such as connected vehicles, smart manufacturing, healthcare, and consumer IoT, where data privacy and compliance are mission-critical.

Key Benefits of the EMQ + Ecosteer Solution:

  • Data control by design: Empowers users to control how and where their data is used, complying with EU mandates for consent and transparency.
  • Secure, scalable architecture: Supports encrypted, real-time data exchange between devices and services across the MQTT pub/sub model.
  • Decentralized consent management: Allows direct user consent, reducing costs and eliminating reliance on centralized intermediaries.
  • Ready for the EU Data Act: Meets "data accessibility by design" requirements with minimal changes to existing infrastructure.

"We’re excited to join forces with Ecosteer to help European enterprises stay ahead of evolving data regulations," said Stefano Marmonti, EMEA Head of Sales at EMQ. "This partnership reinforces our commitment to data security, privacy, and performance for our customers."

"Working with EMQ allows us to offer a comprehensive EU Data Act compliance solution to businesses across Europe," said Elena Pasquali, CEO of Ecosteer. "Our combined technologies simplify data sovereignty while unlocking new business opportunities in a rapidly growing EU data economy."

How the Solution Works

Ecosteer's Data Visibility Control Overlay (DVCO) integrates directly with EMQX Platform, EMQ’s distributed MQTT platform. This combined architecture ensures organizations can collect, encrypt, share, and manage consent for data in real time—without compromising control or compliance.

Multicast Architecture + MQTT Pub/Sub Model

Ecosteer's DVCO complements EMQX’s pub/sub model by enabling multicast encryption from data producers (e.g., vehicles, devices) to authorized consumers. APIs are available for both data publishers and subscribers, and EMQX typically runs in the cloud as the intermediary MQTT broker.

Decentralized Consent Management

Unlike centralized models where a platform manages consent on behalf of users, Ecosteer allows individuals to manage consent themselves. This improves compliance and lowers cost, since licensing scales only with the number of data owners—not recipients.

End-to-End Encrypted Data Streaming

All data is encrypted at the source. EMQX then distributes this encrypted stream to authorized subscribers. Only those with cryptographic access (granted by the data owner) can decrypt and use the data.

About Ecosteer

Ecosteer develops decentralized data visibility control solutions that give individuals direct control over how their data is used and shared. Its flagship product, DVCO, uses a globally patented multicast encryption system to enable secure, compliant data flows across industries like connected vehicles, manufacturing, and healthcare. Ecosteer’s approach supports evolving data privacy frameworks such as GDPR and the EU Data Act by decoupling data access from data visibility.
